I am really looking forward to the Jimmy V Celebrity Golf Classic  for Cancer Research tomorrow!  This is my second year volunteering with the Jimmy V and the 15th anniversary of the phenomenal event.  There are so many great people involved with this program that I cannot begin to tell you.

I will be serving as a Marshall on course number one if you want to stop by.  Serving as a Marshall will be a big change from last year.  (more…)

Slow Down … Don’t Mow Down

Sunday, April 6th, 2008

Today I would like to take a minute to do something out of the ordinary.  I would like to ask you – wherever you live - to slow down and take a look around while you are driving.  This past week has been particularly difficult as the two young sons of one of my neighbors were hit and killed as they tried to cross a busy intersection in town.  Regardless of who was right and who was wrong; two precious children are gone and the world will never be the same for all involved. Raleighwood is going to be hot!

Thursday, March 6th, 2008

I am so excited!  Tonight we had a fantastic Big Bad Ball Meeting.  (For those of you who do not know – the Big Bad Ball is a benefit that we hold each year for the Hospice of Wake County – and it is very near and dear to my heart.)   I could not be happier to see all of the new faces as well as old friends that are involved.  I don’t want to take away the surprise but we are really going to be glamming it up this year with our Raleighwood theme.   It will be a night to remember!

I will keep you posted on the planning.  I am currently serving as Co-Chair, along with my darling friend Allison who owns Sandfoot Photography (more…)

Best Apprentice Ever!

Friday, February 1st, 2008

In case you missed it last night – the Apprentice had to have had the best show ever!  It was great!  Poor Vinny was sent off to be a Rat, rolled over and was ratted out.  He became a man without a country and rather than be sent to sleep with the fishes or have a heart attack he decided to exit stage left.   He was great, the show was great and I loved the Italian music they played quietly in the background for added ambiance.  The only way it would have been better would have been if the ladies gave him a little spec of credit for helping them win – because on camera it sure looked like he helped them to me – but they were rightfully disgruntled so I understand.  Sorry Vinny – I loved you on the show and I loved what you were able to do for your charity and the respect that you showed to your beautiful ex-wife even more.  Ciao.

Priceless Pep Talks from Peyton Manning

Sunday, January 13th, 2008

Ok, ok, you know that I am practically a born and raised Patriots fan so please do not yell at me for mentioning this.  I just have to say that I love the pep talks that Peyton Manning is giving in his commercials and on the  priceless website.  They are hilarious!  Very funny and straight forward - he doesn’t sugar coat anything.  You can customize them and send them to your friends.  The birthday card is great as well.  J  Check them out and let me know what you think.

Volunteering for the Cure

Monday, December 3rd, 2007

As you may know I have been taking part in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure for a few years now.  I have not been there to win, just to do my part, have a good time and make new friends.  This past year I made a change.  Instead of going it alone I teamed up with my friends from the NC Roadrunners Club and had a wonderful time.  New Balance sponsored us and gave us nice butter colored T-shirts with our logo on it.  That was a lot of fun.

Now, I am finally able to volunteer for the program.  Tonight I attended the Volunteer Orientation for the Komen Race for the Cure.  I learned a lot and had a few surprises but I am proud to be a part of this great group of ladies.  I look forward to doing my part to stamp out this monster for good!

Watching Big Spender

Saturday, October 27th, 2007

Today was a lazy day for me.  The sun finally came out after raining for three days straight.  I am not complaining because we desperately need the rain.  J  I enjoyed sitting back and watching a bit of television and catching up on some reading.

I watched a great show called Big Spender.  I would recommend it to anyone who knows anyone that is spending with abandon or even those who are just a bit out of control.  The tough love offered up by a sun glass bearing man in a flowed shirt works wonders shining a guiding light (more…)

A Rainy Day in Raleigh

Wednesday, October 24th, 2007

Drought stricken Raleigh received some much needed rain today. From the top of the Capital City Club I could see the magnificent lightening as it struck randomly around the city. I could not have imagined the spectacular rain event that was on its way when I went out for my walk this morning.

Even though it was raining cats and dogs - the NAWBO luncheon went well. I had the opportunity to introduce my friend Diane Kuehn, President and CEO of VisionPoint Marketing (more…)

Car trouble, lunch with my buddy and cofessions of a new blackberry addict

Friday, October 19th, 2007

Today would have been just another day at the old grind but for the funky brake issue on my husband’s motorcycle- causing him to drive the “cage” to work - or attempt to - until it decided on its own that it would need a jump before it would be moving today -which clearly did not fit in either my husband’s or my schedules - forcing us to buddy up together for the day - and the fact that I had the chance to sneak out for a quick lunch with my buddy Gary at Jason’s Deli(more…)
